Bauma 2019 to return bigger than ever

“Largest trade fair in the world” to expand even further due to high demand

World leading construction machinery trade fair, bauma 2019, is scheduled to return on April 8 at the Messe München trade fair ground in Munich, Germany.

Organisers say the triennial event will be its largest yet, with the site of the exhibition to expand by 9000 square meters to a total area of 614,000 square meters, including an indoor space of 200,000 square meters. The number of halls will also increase to 18.

“Two new halls and a site structure that is even clearer—we have further optimised the parameters for the next bauma,” said Chairman and CEO of Messe München, Klaus Dittrich.

He added worldwide demand for exhibition space at bauma 2019 is extremely high, with over 3500 exhibitors from 55 countries already signed up to exhibit at the show. That’s already over 100 more compared to 2016 figures.

To facilitate the surge in exhibitors, Messe München is introducing a new bauma PLUS zone in which exhibitors can present their businesses and products in a compact area, as well as meet and work with visitors and potential customers.

For the very first time, bauma 2019 will have a virtual reality zone located in Hall B0 where visitors will be able to experience the construction industry via virtual and augmented reality. Organisers will use a combination of images, sound, and sensor feedback, such as wind, to present the experience to visitors.

“The booths have size limits, the digital area is limitless,” said project manager, Mareile Kästner.

“With new virtual offerings, we’re bringing the construction site into the trade fair and expanding our digital portfolio.”

In addition to the new features, Messe München is also planning a number of improvements to the show, including expanding the largest construction machines and attachments sector from four to five halls as well as by an additional area outdoors, directly adjacent to the hall complex.

The components sector will also have five instead of four halls; formworks and scaffolds will move to Hall B3; and lifting appliances to be in Hall C4.

New in Hall C6 will be the Conference Center North that houses additional conference rooms.

The “THINK BIG!” career exhibit, previously located in Hall B0, will move to the ICM – International Congress Center Munich.

To make the trade fair more enjoyable for visitors and exhibitors, Messe München is converting a part of Paul-Henri-Spaak-Straße into the “bauma Boulevard”, which will be a pedestrian-only zone lined with restaurants offering a number of international cuisines.

Bauma 2019 will run from April 8 to 14, and entry to the show will cost about $A56 at the gate.
