Compaction equipment specialist Bomag's new Dash 5 series single-drum rollers are now available in the country via heavy machinery distributor, Tutt Bryant Equipment.
Bomag says the range has undergone extensive reforms to meet demanding consumer requirements.
A key upgrade is an enhanced standard Eco mode function which Bomag claims can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30 per cent compared to previous models while delivering the same compaction performance.
In addition, Bomag says the new Eco mode function reduces engine wear and prolongs machine life overall.
The four larger models in the range (BW 177, 213, 219 and 226) are available with the optional Bomag Variocontrol. The function automatically ensures that energy is constantly transmitted to prevent over-compaction as well as minimise the number of passes required, hence increasing productivity.
The Variocontrol is activated via a single rotary switch integrated into the arm of the seat, allowing operators to either manually choose the required amplitude or set it to automatic mode, specify EVIB (dynamic stiffness of soil) values and let the system control the amplitude.
Inside the cab, Bomag has installed a number of upgraded features including a clearer and more user-friendly dashboard, a compact steering wheel and an adjustable steering column.
In addition, the new operator's cab is 25 per cent larger than its predecessors, with larger windows for increased visibility from the cab.
A new loading function on the speed switch makes loading and unloading of the new rollers safer and easier, Bomag says.
Other standard features include a reversing camera, twin steering cylinders and a thicker drum.
Another highlight of the Dash 5 range are the DH versions, which incorporate two pumps. Bomag says the pumps make the machines far more stable in operation on steep slopes and provide excellent gradeability when moving forwards and backwards.
Servicing of the equipment has also been made easier for users. The new Dash 5 rollers now feature more maintenance-free components, more accessible maintenance points and longer servicing intervals to keep servicing costs down.
