Caterpillar has introduced its new D7 dozer featuring increased performance, enhanced comfort and a whole new suite of technologies over the predecessor D7E model.
The machine features an operating weight of 29,776kg and a power output of 265hp. Like the D6 and D8T, the new D7 is driven by a fully automatic 4-speed transmission which continuously adjusts for maximum efficiency and power to the ground without added operator input.
Offering six per cent more weight and 12 per cent horsepower than the D7E, the D7 is capable of pushing eight per cent more material per hour than its predecessor, Cat said.
Blade capacity is 10 per cent higher, and the elevated sprocket undercarriage delivers better ride and balance, as well as increased penetration force, Cat added.
A completely new cab on the D7, common with the D5 and D6/D6 XE, has been designed to offer more space and multiple seat and control adjustments for optimal comfort. An easy-to-use 254mm (10 inch) touchscreen operator interface and a standard High Definition rear-view camera improves overall operator experience.
The D7 is loaded with a variety of technology offerings designed to make operators lives easier. These include:
Customers can add factory integrated Cat Grade with 3D with their D7 dozer. Advanced Inertial Measuring Units (IMU) provide greater speed and accuracy without position sensing cylinders.
Small antennas are integrated into the cab roof for better protection and GPS receivers are mounted inside the cab to prevent theft.
The D7 can also be remote-controlled via a roof-mounted remote control unit. The dozer features a range of standard Cat Link telematics technology such as ProductLink, VisionLink and Remote Troubleshoot to aid in data collection, fleet monitoring and diagnostics, for example.
The D7 is available in Standard or Low Ground Pressure (LGP) configurations, with a variety of blade and track shoe choices to optimise the machine for the intended application.
The D7 can also be ordered with specialised guarding for waste and landfill work; impact-resistant cab; application-specific undercarriage and a specialty blade.
