Caterpillar announces theme and attractions for CONEXPO 2020

Cat to exhibit over 30 machines and host the Global Operator Challenge finals at world leading construction expo

Caterpillar is not holding back on its presence at the upcoming CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 trade show as it announces it will be taking up 60,000 square-feet (5574sqm) of exhibition space at the event set to take place in March in Las Vegas.

Cat said its display will include a mix of static displays, equipment demonstration area and new services/technologies under the theme of “Your Work Matters.”

The display, to be set up at the CONEXPO’s new outdoor Festival Grounds, also includes an Operator’s Stadium, where the finals of the Global Operator Challenge and equipment demonstrations will take place.

New machines galore

Caterpillar said it will exhibit more than 30 machines at the show, including nine new products across its dozer, excavator, articulated truck and backhoe loader families.

These include:

  • Cat D3 dozer which will replace the Cat D5K2 and offer improved fuel efficiency by up to 10 per cent, according to Cat. The cab will also deliver greater visibility while enhanced controls will deliver easier, intuitive finish grading, Cat added.
  • The new center-pivot 420XE backhoe loader which offers seat mounted controls for improved operator comfort. Dual Mode operation increases machine productivity, while electronic loader controls offer true parallel lift. A new IT quick coupler delivers quick change-out of a sizable range of Cat attachments.
  • The 150 AWD motor grader features all-wheel drive that assists with traction and manoeuvring, allowing the machine to work in any environment. An Eco mode delivers up to 10 per cent greater fuel efficiency without productivity loss. It also comes integrated with the new mastless 3D Cat GRADE control system.
  • Cat’s 725 articulated truck offers plenty of new cab features including assisted hoist, Automatic Retarder Control and Advanced Automatic Traction Control, all designed to improve operator experience.
  • The Cat M318 wheeled excavator comes with Cat GRADE, E-Fence and PAYLOAD options to improve operator efficiency by up to 45 per cent and lower maintenance costs by up to 10 per cent, Cat said.
  • The 325 medium excavator comes with an advanced engine technology and control system that reduces fuel consumption by up to 25 per cent, Cat claimed.
  • The new 395 excavator offers 10 per cent more swing torque and 10 per cent more stick force than the model it replaces for faster cycle times and greater groundbreaking power, Cat said.

New tech

Cat is also introducing a series of new technology and services at CONEXPO 2020, including:

  • Cat Productivity which is a web-based advanced productivity management tool that delivers payload, machine and site data from Cat Product Link. Through the tool, contractors are able to compare performance against productivity targets, fix inefficiencies and maximise machine utilisation to increase profits.
  • The Cat Command remote control system - an enhanced operating station with expanded capability to operate multiple pieces of equipment, equipped with the Command Vision System. The system also offers a portable console, designed for line-of-sight use, which will also be showcased in the exhibit.
  • Command for Compaction system from Cat's paving product range that automates the compaction process to increase quality. It features an intuitive interface for simple operation that aims to eliminate skill gaps to deliver up to 60 per cent better coverage with consistent and precise overlap, constant speed and correct pass count.
  • New Cat Remote Services that Cat claimed deliver up to 50 per cent less machine downtime through Remote Flash software updates and Remote Troubleshoot diagnostic testing.
  • Cat Abrasion Undercarriage with a new XL sealing system that doubles seal life in some applications and offers up to 50 per cent more link life than heavy duty designs, Cat said.
