Quality earthmoving machinery don’t come cheap, we know that for a fact. Although we managed to dig up (pun intended) five cost effective excavators listed on constructionsales.com.au for under $20,000 that are worth having a look at, a high-powered, super heavy duty machine usually requires a much heftier investment.
We came across several machines on the site worth millions of dollars but this one takes the cake. This 2005 Komatsu PC3000-6 mining spec excavator costs over $3 million and certainly looks the goods.

There is a plethora of manufacturers specialising in earthmoving machinery on the market but few have their fingers in the mining pie. Several names come to mind, namely Caterpillar, Liebherr and Komatsu.
Komatsu has always been at the forefront of technology, being one of the first OEMs to integrate semi-autonomous technology into their products. Its Intelligent Machine Control (iMC) system, in particular, was a game changer in the industry which eliminates much of the manual work for machine operators, making their lives easier while improving productivity at the same time.
Don’t be fooled by the model year and hours on this Komatsu PC3000-6. Although it is 15 years old and have done over 31,000 hours, it looks as good as brand new, thanks to a complete rebuilt. As a result, majority of the components are brand new, including the fire suppression system; grease system; pins and bushes; and undercarriage.

Its engine, a Komatsu SDA12V159E-2 with a whopping output of 1260hp at 1800rpm, is at its mid-life.
The PC3000-6 also had its hydraulic hoses replaced, electrical system refurbished, leaking cylinders resealed, cab and air-conditioning refurbished as well as received a good blast and paint.
It received a full service prior to listing, ensuring it is in operating condition ready to get straight to work. The PC3000-6 also comes with a 15 cubic-metre bucket and features all the essentials including travel alarm, beacon and work lights.

The seller has indicated that the price includes demobilisation and loading on to floats for transportation from Mt Thorley, NSW.
