Comet X-Trailer hits Aussie shores

Most compact trailer-mounted boom lift arrives in the country

United Forklift and Access Solutions is introducing the new Comet X-Trailer portable boom lift in Australia which boasts a compact size when stowed for easy transporting.

The new Comet X-Trailer has a working height of 12m, making it ideal for work requiring access to high and tricky areas. It stows to a length of just 3.1m – which according to United Forklift and Access Solutions, is the most compact of its class.

It can hold up to 200kg, has a horizontal outreach of 4.5m, and can rotate nearly 360 degrees for additional flexibility for complex tasks. Hydraulic controls provide easy and accurate control of the machine.

The trailer-mounted boom lift comes in electric, petrol, diesel and hybrid models, and weighs about 1200kg, allowing it to be towed by a mid-size sedan.

“The Comet X-Trailer’s compact dimensions and intuitive controls make it ideal for sign writers, electricians, painters, glazers, facility maintenance personnel and other workers that regularly operate at height,” says United Forklift and Access Solutions Access Equipment Manager, Andrew Macdonald.

The Comet X-Trailer comes with an optional self-drive system, which allows easy on-site manoeuvring of the trailer. A single operator can use the controls to drive the trailer smoothly up to a vehicle and position it ready for towing, eliminating the need to manually push and position the trailer.

“The X-Trailer is designed for optimum worker efficiency,” Macdonald adds.

“The boom lift also comes with a 240-volt power outlet in the platform. When connected to mains, power workers can use their power tools when working at height.”

Other safety features include an emergency shut-down switch and a ‘dead man pedal’ which locks the boom in place and prevents it from moving while work is being done at height.

“The Comet X-Trailer has been designed and built to the highest quality by one of Italy’s oldest and most respected EWP manufacturers,” Macdonald says.

“These machines are fully compliant and meet strict European and Australian standards. These can be ordered in a number of configurations depending on requirements.

“Its introduction to Australia will include a 12-month warranty.”
