One of the world’s largest construction trade shows and North America’s largest, CONEXPO-CON/AGG, ran from March 14 to 18 and had a record 139,000 people stream through the doors of the Las Vegas Convention Centre over five days.
The triennial event was the first to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic and drew in construction professionals from 133 countries to Las Vegas to inspect products and services offered by 2400 exhibitors from 36 countries, spread out over 3 million square feet of exhibit space.
“The innovations in the construction industry unveiled this week will play a role in helping construction professionals drive meaningful and sustainable economic growth,” said CONEXPO-CON/AGG show chair and Caterpillar Senior Vice President, Phil Kelliher.
“Live events in the construction industry are very important, because you can see, touch and experience the products. That value was reaffirmed this past week across the show floor.”
This year’s show shone a spotlight on sustainable technology and the future of the construction industry, with plenty of electric and hydrogen-powered machinery on display.
John Deere showcased its range of hybrid and battery-powered equipment while Volvo debuted its next-gen 50-tonne crawler excavator.
Bobcat previewed its ground-breaking cabless, autonomous and electric track loader, the RogueX, alongside its S76 electric skid-steer, which it claimed is the first in the world.
Caterpillar also showcased several new battery-powered machines at the show. It also held the Global Operator Challenge world finals at its outdoor stand at the expo on the first day of the show, where nine of the best earthmover operators in the world competed in a series of machine operation challenges in a bid to clinch the title of world champion.
Australia’s Patrick Doheny eventually prevailed to take home the crown.
The next CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show will be held from March 3 to 7, 2026, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
