For the very first time, John Deere is integrating its precision grade control technology, previously only available in its dozers and graders, into its compact equipment range.
In fact, John Deere said the 333G CTL (compact track loader) was the first compact equipment on the market to receive a fully integrated grade control system.
The integration of SmartGrade means contractors and fleet owners can do more with their CTL and with more accuracy in a varied range of tasks including site development, roadbuilding and landscaping.
The SmartGrade technology helps operators automatically complete grading tasks faster with fewer passes and less rework compared to working without grade control technology, Deere said.

The new and improved 333G CTL is also compact and easily transportable, allowing it to grade with ease in confined work sites such as residential compounds.
As the SmartGrade is fully integrated into the machine’s structures and software and not externally mounted, there is no risk of theft or damage to the system as opposed to aftermarket grade control systems.
In addition to the SmartGrade, John Deere has also introduced a new DozerMode function on the 333G which enables the EH joystick control system to function like a crawler dozer with the push of a button.
DozerMode is ideal for use with the six-way dozer blade attachment on the CTL that can both cut a grade and spread materials. The blade is fine-tuned to meet the performance needs of a compact track loader and does not require tools to change between other attachments.
In conjunction with SmartGrade technology, the blade reduces the amount of operator input, ultimately lowering operator fatigue, Deere said.
