In a historic move, John Deere is offering its new Series-II range of hydraulic excavators in Australia, which happens to be the brand's first ever excavator line-up to enter the Australian market.
The line-up features eight models with power ranging from 106hp to 312hp. The operating weights of the excavators range from 13.6 tonnes all the way up to 40.9 tonnes.
John Deere first unveiled the E210LC and the E360 LC from the range at the Diesel Dirt and Turf show in 2019 and is now ready to offer the full line to Australian customers.
According to John Deere Construction and Forestry Division Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Africa, Jeff Kraft, the range had been built with Australian customers front of mind.
“They are built in dedicated Deere factories and to our exacting Deere engineering standards and will help drive production and profitability for local operators through fast cycle times, more muscle, more daily uptime and tough components,” he said.
Two key improvements to the excavators over predecessor models, John Deere said, are a redesigned cab and a more powerful hydraulic system.

For better response times and digging force, John Deere has upgraded the hydraulic system on the Series-II excavators.
John Deere’s Intelligent Hydraulic (JD-IHC) system now has several new features including an auto pressure-boost function that provides extra hydraulic power when needed.
On E200 and E300 Series-II models, an Auxiliary Merge option provides increased hydraulic flow for operating larger hammers.
A 90/180-degree function, available on the E300 models, increases the boom-up speed for faster truck loading.
There are four power modes and three work modes for operators to choose from that will deliver the right power and response for the task at hand.
The Series-II machines are powered by John Deere’s PowerTech Plus engine with variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) that Deere said delivers outstanding fuel efficiency.
John Deere has completely redesigned the cab on the Series-II excavators to offer higher levels of comfort and productivity.
The spacious operator station features new automotive styling and ergonomically placed controls for reduced fatigue.
A new seven-inch touch-screen monitor provides quick access to essential machine information and functions.
A sealed switch module controls machine start stop and other functions such as lighting, hence eliminating multiple individual switches for different functions for a simplified operation.
Other creature comfort features include automatic temperature control (ATC) and ample storage in the cab.
John Deere is offering its JDLink telematics system as standard with its Series-II excavators that provides real time machine utilisation data and remote diagnostic capabilities. Alerts can be sent to John Deere dealers should the machine experience problems or require a service and from there, dealers can respond to the job accordingly with the parts and tools they need.
John Deere’s Series-II excavators have a sealed and lubricated undercarriage and heavy-duty welded X-frame that provide a solid, stable platform. The sloped track frame resists material build-up for easier and quicker cleaning.
Full-length track guides and double-grouser track shoes are optional for rocky terrain. A heavy-duty cooling system keeps the engine and hydraulic system running efficiently even in tough environments.
The optional extra side bumper on two sides of the upper frame on heavy-duty models protects the machine from damage on crowded jobsites.
Customers can choose from a wide selection of custom-profile buckets with different taper angles, capacities, and widths to go with their machines to suit the task at hand.
Deere said the new excavators are also easier to maintain and service thanks to the group service points; single position swing greasing; 4000-hour hydraulic oil and filter change intervals; and 500-hour engine oil and filter change intervals.
John Deere excavators are backed by a National Dealer Service and Parts Network. RDO Equipment is the official John Deere construction range dealer for all Australian states except WA, in which AFGRI Equipment is the official dealer.
