The National Diesel Dirt and Turf Expo (DDT) will once again be held in Penrith (NSW) this year over three days, from Friday April 21 to Sunday April 23.
According to event organisers, over 30,000 patrons visited the inaugural event last year which has been created specifically to boost the Western Sydney construction boom. It is managed by representatives of the Australian earthmoving equipment industry to help contractors keep up to date with the latest technology in earthmoving, construction and public space maintenance equipment.
In addition to excavators, loaders, attachments and other earthmoving equipment, the event also showcases a range of affiliated products such as trucks, mowing equipment, boats and bikes.
There will also be family-friendly entertainment such as freestyle motocross and face painting; as well as good quality food to keep all members of the family happy.
In 2017, organisers are promising a bigger and better event, with exhibitor numbers already soaring through the roof.
Kobelco Construction Machinery Australia, which is a major sponsor of the show, will be exhibiting its range of excavators as well as several new products at its stand at DDT 2017.
Tractor dealership Discount Tractors will be showcasing the GeoGrid, a lightweight high-density polyethylene (HDPE) ground protection and reinforcement system. It serves as a medium on which to run cars, trucks, utes, tractors, excavators, or implements. It provides a tough and durable surface for car parks, driveways, pathways, access roads and construction sites.
Tecpro will be showcasing the V12S Dust Cannon, a silent dust suppression solution designed and manufactured in Italy. The company says it is quiet enough to use in city demolition sites yet durable enough for work in the mines or in materials handling applications.
It features centrally located nozzles with ceramic inserts which generate a highly effective fine mist to bind dust particles at their source. The greatest benefit of the V12S, according to Tecpro, is its quiet operation which is a mere 67dB to 55dB at 20m.
A key attraction at the DDT is the Operator's Challenge in which machinery operators stand a chance to win up to $16,000 in cash.
Sponsored by leading heavy equipment brands Takeuchi and Terex, the competition is open to operators over the age of 18.
Over the three days of the show, contestants will compete in two different machine challenges in which daily winners will take home $1000 each and qualify for the finals which will be held on the Sunday. The ultimate winners will take home another $5000, as well as a trophy and the title of 2017 champion.
Spectators can check out competitors’ progress on a scoreboard in the arena, while operators have in-cabin microphones so they can let everyone know how they are going, or describe what they are doing.
The Diesel Dirt and Turf Expo 2017 will be held in the grounds of the Penrith Panthers Club and is free for all to visit.
