Diesel Dirt & Turf 2017 pulled in record crowds

Over 43,750 visitors from Australia and overseas descended upon the annual construction and heavy machinery expo in Penrith, NSW.

Following its inaugural event last year, the Diesel Dirt & Turf expo has recorded yet another successful show this year, attracting over 200 exhibitors and 43,750 adult visitors through its doors over three days.

The national earthmoving equipment expo ran from April 21 to 23, 2017 at the grounds of the Penrith Panthers Club (NSW).

Last year, the free-to-attend event had about 30,000 patrons stream through its gates.

Diesel Dirt & Turf CEO, Steve Zivkovich, says the organising team has taken on board feedback and experience from last year's event to make the 2017 show a bigger and better one.

"Despite the huge increase in the number of exhibitors from last year, we were able to configure the site to ensure all exhibitors received value for money and maximum exposure," he says.

"Panthers Penrith has been extremely supportive. We now have a long-term agreement in place that will ensure this fantastic industry expo site is equipped with the facilities needed to run the National Diesel Dirt & Turf Expo for many years to come."

The country's top machinery operators battled it out for a slice of $21,000 in prize money.

Some of the highlights of the show included motocross stunt bike performances, a vintage truck display, rides, and an Operator's Challenge competition which saw the country's top machine operators battle it out for a share of $21,000 in prize money.

Some companies saw the show as the perfect launch pad to officially unveil their new machines to the market.

"Attending the expo was a great opportunity to support the industry and launch our new SK300LC -10 excavator and get out and meet some new customers, while supporting the construction equipment industry," says Kobelco Construction Machinery Australia's Mark Johnson.

A number of exhibitors managed to generate genuine leads or even close major sales at the show.

"Diesel Dirt & Turf was an excellent show for us. The visitor numbers were great and the organisation was well executed and efficient. We received more than 100 genuine sales leads during the three days," says Glen Wolfenden from Bearcat Tyres.

The Diesel Dirt and Turf Show is set to make a return in April 2018, from April 13 to 15.
