Aerial work platform specialist Genie has released the first model in its XC family, the Genie SX-135XC boom lift into the market, which the company claims offers industry-leading outreach and capacity.
It boasts a 27.43m (90ft) outreach, 300kg lift capacity, the ability to work 6m below grade and a 3.94m x 4.11m compact footprint.
"With 3m more outreach and 32 per cent more capacity than a typical self-propelled boom of this size, the Genie SX-135XC boom lift is ideal for rental customers working on challenging job site applications thanks to its unique up-and-over style capability to navigate obstacles at height," says Genie General Manager Australia, Brad Lawrence.
A Deutz 74hp diesel engine powers the Genie SX-135XC, while four-wheel drive and four-wheel steer capabilities allow the boom lift to work on most job sites with ease.
The Genie SX-135XC is capable of lifting operators to the full platform height of 41.15m (135ft) in 2.5 minutes, and can be driven at full height.
Combined with a horizontal reach of 90ft, Genie says the boom lift delivers a working envelope ideal for the most extreme access jobs.
A 5.48 m (18 ft) to 9.14 m (30 ft) Telescoping Jib-Extend jib gives the SX-135XC an exceptional range of motion, offering operators up and over capabilities as well as 125 degrees of jib articulation, and 55 degrees down to 70 degrees up of vertical articulation.
When the job is done, the jib can be stowed under the primary boom for ease of transportation.
A new mini XChassis axle design enables the axles to be extended and retracted to and from the stowed position with a more compact footprint - 2.49m (8ft 2in) x 4.11m (13ft 6in) retracted, and 3.94m (12ft 11in) x 4.11m (13ft 6in) extended.
"Similar in design to the full-size XChassis expanding axle on the Genie SX-150, SX-180 and ZX-135 booms, the mini XChassis system boasts two-thirds the footprint of the full-size version for excellent manoeuvrability on and around confined job sites without disrupting people or traffic," Lawrence says.
Featuring a weight of 21.7 tonnes, a transport length of 13.3m, a tail swing of 1.14m and ground clearance of 0.38m, the Genie SX-135XC boom lift is easily transportable on a standard trailer.
A 300kg lift capacity allows the boom lift to carry up to three people onboard while still leaving room for tools and job-site materials. The new XC design includes a standard 2.44m (8ft) tri-entry platform with side-swing gate.
According to Genie, the new boom complies with the overload restriction guidelines in the Australian AS 1418.10 standards. All Genie XC models include a new low-maintenance load sense cell technology that monitors the weight on the platform and disables function if the load exceeds the platform load limit.
"The overload sense functionalities are compensated for on all Genie XC boom models by increased platform load capacity, increasing these booms’ utilisation in heavy-load applications compared to units with more restrictive platform load limits,” he says.
The Genie SX-135XC will be on display at the HIRE17 hire and rental convention in Sydney in May 2017.
