Elevating work platform expert Genie's Z-60/37 FE hybrid boom lift has snagged the "Best New Product – Access" award at the Hire Industry Excellence Awards held at the recent HIRE17 Conference in Sydney.
The award ceremony recognises outstanding achievement, excellence, service and innovation in the hire and rental industry in Australia.
Accepting Genie's product award at the event was Genie General Manager, Brad Lawrence.
"The Z-60/37 FE boom will help our customers achieve what the latest innovations deliver, and it was an absolute thrill to accept this award on behalf of the team at Genie who have developed the new technology for the hybrid boom," Lawrence says.
He says the boom lift has been very well received since its global release in April 2016. Driven by high-efficiency AC motors, the Z-60/37 FE combines diesel power and four-wheel-drive performance with the energy efficiency and quieter operation of compact, low-weight electric-powered booms.
Genie says the machine's hybrid technology allows it to travel 25 per cent faster than other diesel-powered units, and enables it to take on work both indoors and outdoors.
"Businesses who have used the Genie Z- 60/37 FE boom lift since its launch have reported significant cost savings and a marked reduction in their carbon footprint, while getting increased performance and versatility from their aerial work platforms,” Lawrence says.
According to Genie, the Z-60/37 FE boom lift is capable of offering a full day of emissions-free performance on a single charge when operating in full-electric mode. In hybrid mode, it can run for more than a week on a single tank of diesel.
In hybrid mode, an environmentally friendly 24hp diesel powered generator constantly monitors the charge of the 48V DC battery pack, keeping it topped up and then automatically shutting off to minimise fuel consumption.
After a heavy full-electric operation, the hybrid power system can provide a bulk charge in around four hours.
"On long-term jobs, even when on-site power is not available, this machine is versatile enough to handle tasks ranging from work on rough and unprepared ground to indoor applications where it’s important to keep noise and emissions to a minimum," Ely says.
“This model is extremely cost-efficient and provides high rental returns for general construction and industrial applications, such as sports arenas, shopping malls and convention centres. It is just the kind of machine to be the first on the jobsite and the last off – exactly what rental customers are looking for to improve their profitability," he adds.
