Safety solutions company, Honeywell, has introduced its Howard Leight series of hearing protection devices, designed to protect and connect Australia and New Zealand’s industrial workforce.
Suitable for employees working in high noise environments such as in construction, agriculture, manufacturing, automotive, food processing, warehousing and plumbing, the range not only reduces the effects of hazardous noise, but also enhances communication between workers with microphones included on most models.
Workers are also able to listen to AM and FM radio or enjoy their own audio entertainment via an external outlet such as a mobile phone or audio player.
Some of the hearing protection devices are so effective at blocking out hazardous noise that they are suitable for use on the shooting range, according to Honeywell.
All models feature a patented Air Flow Control technology that provides optimal attenuation across all noise frequencies.

The Sync Digital AM/FM radio model comes in two colours, neon and black, and allows users to tune into their favourite radio stations while they’re working away. Featuring a lightweight design and comfortable snap in-ear cushions, the model uses two AA batteries with a battery lifetime of 111 hours. The model comes with a 3.5mm aux input cable to connect to audio players.

The Sync Electo (without helmet) & HHAT (with helmet) also allow digital FM tuning with LCD display and 10 pre-set stations. It features sound amplification for when communication comes through the earmuffs so workers can hear orders and instructions clearly. An audio input jack and 3.5mm cable is included to connect to audio players.

The Sync Wireless Earmuff model eliminates the need for any cables and uses Bluetooth to connect to mobile devices. It features a robust boom microphone with windsock for voice clarity in high-noise environments. Powered by a lithium ion battery, the wireless model offers over 16 hours of battery life. A USB chord and wall charger comes with the model to allow for charging of the device.

The Impact Sport earmuff offers three colour choices – black, green and camo and is suitable for use on shooting ranges. It blocks out hazardous noises but amplifies ambient sound to a safe 82dB. This model also features an AUX input to connect to audio devices for additional listening off the job.

The Sync Stereo Earmuffs do not require batteries to run. All operators have to do is plug it in to their audio devices and play. A 3.5mm cable is provided for connection to audio devices. A Volume Management Technology manages MP3 volumes to a safe 82dB.

Last but not least, the Impact Pro Amplification Earmuff is also suitable for use on the shooting range, and features voice amplification for communication on the range. It automatically shuts off after four hours, hence increasing battery life. It is powered by two AAA batteries and comes with a 3.5mm audio input connection cord to connect to MP3 players, smart phones and scanner radios.
