Kobelco has announced the arrival of its SK135SR-7 midi excavator model in Australia which is available now in Kobelco dealerships nationwide.
It is the latest model to join the next-gen SR-7 series released last year which Kobelco said boasts significant upgrades in terms of power, comfort and productivity.
“Kobelco is committed to designing and manufacturing the most capable and efficient excavators available, and the introduction of the SK135SR-7 demonstrates this perfectly,” said Kobelco Australia General Manager of Marketing, Chris Wolf.
“The SK135SR-7 delivers on Kobelco’s mission to combine unbeatable performance with modern machine design in its latest generation of excavators, reinforcing its position as the market leader in this class in Australia.”
The 15-tonne SK135SR-7 is powered by an Isuzu 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that meets global emissions standards and offers 86kW at 2200rpm. Kobelco said that is a 10 per cent increase in engine output compared to the SK135SR-5 model.
The performance increase helps with jobs on gradients and heavy bucket loads, delivering a tractive effort of 141kN. Digging cycle time has also been reduced compared with the previous model, thanks to a new hydraulic control system, Kobelco said.
The spacious sealed and pressurised cabin of the SK135SR-7 features automotive styling similar to that found in European cars, Kobelco said.
A 10-inch colour monitor takes centre stage in the cab, which Kobelco claims is the largest in-cab visual information screen on the excavator market. It provides the operator with a clear view of important machine status information, function menus as well as camera views.
Monitor functions are controlled by a multifunction jog-type dial that is LED backlit.
Three cameras come standard on the SK135SR-7: one on the rear, one on the right side of the machine and a third one on the left which creates a unique “eagle-eye” view offering 270 degree visibility of the machine perimeter.
A Grammer-built and Kobelco-branded heated and air-cushioned suspension seat comes standard on the new machine. The joystick and armrests are integrated into the seat, allowing operators to stay fully in control of the machine with any movement they make.
The seat and console system can be adjusted to suit different operators’ needs. The cabin’s standard climate control system has been revised so cooling air is directed towards the operator’s upper torso from four ducts positioned on the rear left and right of the cab.
A new control lever and hydraulic system with shorter, more precise lever movement further promotes operator comfort, Kobelco said.
Other features of the SK135SR-7 cabin include an LED door lamp that switches on when the cabin door is open or the ignition is switched off; LED backlighting on all control switches; a FOPS Level II roof guard equipped with a lockable swing-open section, and a Bluetooth integrated stereo system with hands-free calling support.
In addition to primary bi-directional auxiliary hydraulics, the SK135SR-7 now comes with quick hitch piping and an additional tilt/rotate circuit with a dedicated pump as standard.
A new hydraulic control system allows operators to select one of seven pre-set hydraulic attachment control modes (e.g. bucket, nibbler, tilt-rotator, breaker etc.) via the 10-inch colour screen and jog-dial. The advanced hydraulic control system automatically balances and optimises machine operating characteristics to suit the demands of specific attachment types, and can be adjusted to suit operator preferences.
In addition to the pre-set attachment modes, four optional modes can be configured to operation requirements.
Kobelco’s Integrated Noise and Dust Reduction System (iNDr) provides the SK135SR-7 with low onsite noise operation, Kobelco said. The air filter is now mounted in front of the radiator system for easier serviceability.
