Komatsu unveils Dash 7 wheel loaders

Covers come off first two models from Komatsu's newest wheel loader range featuring a series of upgrades

Komatsu has given its wheel-loader range a makeover by fitting them with more fuel efficient engines, fuel-saving technology, and more comfortable operator cabs.

The first two models from the new Dash 7 range are the 24-tonne WA470-7 and the 36-tonne WA500-7 – both designed for face loading and sales loader applications in quarry operations.

Komatsu Australia National Business Manager, Richard Feehely, says the new line-up features a series of technology and upgrades that make them "cleaner, greener machines with exceptional performance".

All Dash 7 Loaders are powered by Komatsu engines that are compliant with EPA Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage IIIB engine emissions standards.

"Komatsu's new Tier 4i engines combine next generation high-pressure common rail fuel injection (HPCR), Komatsu's variable geometry turbocharger (KVGT), cooled exhaust gas recirculation technology and the Komatsu diesel particulate filter (KDPF) to reduce fuel consumption and emissions while delivering exceptional performance," he says.

Another cost-saving feature Komatsu has built into its new Dash 7 machines is the SmartLoader Logic technology. It constantly evaluates information on load and working conditions through sensors built in the driveline and attachments, then continuously modifies engine torque to ensure only the required amount of engine power is used, thus saving fuel.

Other fuel saving technologies include an auto idle shutdown function, a dual mode engine power select system, variable displacement piston pumps and closed-centre load-sensing hydraulics that prevent loss from wasted hydraulic oil.

Komatsu's Eco-Guidance system provides live fuel saving recommendations to operators via the main screen.

"The new range will see customers extract more from their investment," Feehely says.

The cabin and controls on the Dash 7 loaders have been redesigned for optimum operator comfort. Komatsu says cabin noise has been significantly reduced as a result of the changes.

A rear-view monitoring system and large multi-lingual LCD monitor provide good visibility from any seating position.

Swing-out rear fenders allow easy access to gullwing-type engine doors for daily checks and servicing.

Larger models in the Dash 7 loader range also feature an extended platform with full handrails, which have been added for safe access to engine pre-cleaners.

The new range comes standard with Komatsu's KOMTRAX remote monitoring system. Find out more about the new Dash 7 wheel loaders at komatsu.com.au.
