A brand new industry-owned trade show for the earthmoving and infrastructure industries has been announced and will be held for the first time in November 2018 in Sydney.
The expo, coined the National Construction Equipment Convention (NCEC), was the result of years of development between the Construction Mining and Equipment Industry Group (CMEIG) and Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF).
It will replace the long-running Australian Construction Equipment Expos (ACE EXPO) in Victoria and Queensland, as well as Western Australia’s mining innovation event – the Construction Mining Equipment Expo (CME EXPO).
ETF’s event director, Albert Kruger, says the consolidation of the shows is a step in the right direction as the national construction industry braces itself for significant growth over the next few years, especially in the infrastructure area.
“Data from the Australia Infrastructure Audit shows that the Australian Government intends to heavily invest in infrastructure in the next 15 years,” he says.
“The Chairman of Infrastructure Australia, Mark Birrell, has said that the Infrastructure Priority List identifies 100 major proposals with substantial strategic merit and national importance.
“These very strong statements make it the perfect timing to bring the industry together at this national NCEC event.”
Kruger says the NCEC will facilitate industry growth by offering a global showcase of cutting-edge technology, construction-related products and equipment demonstrations to businesses in the construction sector.
“The construction industry’s future – worldwide, not just in Australia – depends on the sector’s ability to embrace new processes and technology. That’s where NCEC comes in,” he says.
“Exhibitors will have access to thousands of decision makers in the Australian construction industry and those responsible for infrastructure.”
He adds the redevelopment and rebrand will set NCEC apart from other industry trade events in the country and will offer visitors more opportunities to network and do business.
“These include an interactive floor display, new business opportunities including an Opening Ceremony, Business Leaders Breakfast with a government presence, international pavilions and a dynamic ‘Tech Zone’,” Kruger says.
“Bringing partners from the construction industry will give exhibitors the opportunity to reach membership audiences from industry bodies, and makes NCEC invaluable for Australian construction equipment suppliers and manufacturers.”
The NCEC will be a triennial event and will take place in 2018 from November 15 to 17 at the Sydney Showground.
