Tilly’s Crawler Parts inducted into Hall of Fame

Toowoomba heavy machinery and parts business recognised for outstanding service to the local community and economy

The year 2020 was a challenging one for many businesses in so many ways but for Toowoomba(QLD)-based Tilly’s Crawler Parts, it turned out to be one of the best year in its 36 year history.

The business was inducted into the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame late last year– the only business to receive the prestigious award in 2020. The award, which recognises longstanding and exceptional businesses in the region, was voted on by the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce Board and only goes to one winner each year.

The Oscars-style award ceremony took place at the iconic Empire Theatre on December 12, 2020.

“People say the most important thing is the customer, and it's really important to have happy customers,” said owners Andrew and Helen Tilly.

“But there is only one thing that makes happy customers, and that's happy staff, and this award goes to all of our staff.”

With machinery parts being at the heart of what the company does, Tilly’s team of parts interpreters is crucial to the company’s success, said Tilly’s General Manager, Lance Hinrichsen.

“Over 200 years of combined industry experience means that even with minimal information, our customers are guaranteed to receive the right part, at the right price, right now. It’s been Tilly’s mantra for as long as we can remember,” he said.

“Our ability to deliver on that promise is becoming even more refined as we constantly work to improve our service offering.”

In 2021, Tilly’s will implement a new software to improve efficiency and productivity across the entire company.

“This is a substantial investment in Australian-developed ERP software and one which Tilly’s believes will have multiple benefits for the future,” Hinrichsen said.

In addition, Tilly’s is also developing and implementing an online sales platform that it said will enable its customers to research and order the parts they need 24/7.

“2021 is going to be a huge year for our company,” Hinrichsen added.

“If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we need to be willing to adapt and change when necessary, without compromising our company values or the reputation we have worked so hard to gain and maintain. We are so excited for what is coming!”
