Top 5 construction machinery videos of 2019

Our most watched videos this year covered some big product launches and comprehensive reviews

Humans are visual creatures. That is why we here at Constructionsales.com.au take great pride in bringing you quality videos of the latest construction machinery launches and reviews, instead of simply stopping at text and images like newspapers and magazines of bygone days.

Out of our videos published this year, our review videos grabbed the most attention. Though lengthy, they offer plenty of valuable information that will help you in your research and purchasing decision.

Here are the top 5 most viewed videos on Constructionsales.com.au for 2019:

5. JCB Hydradig Wastemaster video review

Following a highly successful launch of the construction model Hydradig in 2016, JCB decided to introduce the Wastemaster version which has several extra features such as ROPS and FOPS as well as semi solid tyres for the waste industry.

We had the opportunity to test drive a unit at the Frankston Regional Recycling and Recovery Centre in Melbourne and was impressed by the excellent visibility from the cab and also just how easy it is to manoeuvre the machine. The fact that it offers multiple steering modes including crab steer and reverse steer certainly helped.

We spoke to JCB excavators product manager, Deon Cope, to find out more about the machine and also delivered our thoughts on the innovative machine in this comprehensive video review.

4. Multione 8.4S mini loader video review

We coined this machine the “Thermomix of the heavy industry”, mainly due to its ability to carry out a wide range of jobs on the paddock or work site and effectively replacing multiple machines with one.

The Italian-made Multione 8.4S mini loader is an extremely versatile machine thanks to its compatibility with over 100 attachments which include scissor lift, mulcher, slasher, loader bucket, pallet fork and much more.

So much so that it has found its way into unique and unconventional industries such as beekeeping due to its versatility and compact size.

We had a go in the Multione 8.4S mini loader courtesy of Victorian heavy equipment dealership, Australian Construction Equipment Sales (ACES), doing a couple of jobs on a small property. We came away so impressed we wanted to buy one for ourselves…

3. John Deere E360 LC excavator launch and walkaround video

John Deere made quite a splash in the local construction market this year when it announced its full construction range is bound for Aussie shores. This follows the news of RDO Equipment and AFGRI Equipment taking over distributorship of Deere’s construction range in Australia earlier this year.

One of the new machines scheduled for launch was the E360 LC excavator which made its debut at the 2019 Diesel Dirt and Turf show in Penrith, NSW earlier in May this year.

The E360 LC is part of John Deere’s new series-II excavator line-up that has been redesigned to offer improved comfort and performance.

One of the enhancements is a brand new cab which is bigger and features a premium leather air seat with an intuitive 7-inch touchscreen monitor.

We spoke to John Deere Territory Customer Support Manager, Sean Beardmore, to get the lowdown on the new machine.

2. NCEC 2018: Caterpillar next-gen mini excavators launch video

It was one of Caterpillar’s biggest launches in recent years, and Australia was lucky enough to be the first country in the world to get a glimpse of the amazing range of machines.

After taking back the manufacturing of its mini excavator range from Wacker Neuson, Caterpillar has decided to give the line-up a new lease of life by giving it a range of creature comfort features designed to offer ultimate comfort for operators.

Caterpillar’s next-gen mini excavator range was officially launched at the National Construction Equipment Convention in Sydney last November. We had a chat to Caterpillar product application specialist, Mark Perkes, about the all-new line-up and the range of innovative features it offers.

1.  Mecalac 6MCR skid excavator review video

And our most viewed video of the year goes to the Mecalac skid excavator, which is another truly versatile machine that can effectively replace several machines on the work site.

The French brand may not be a household name but in recent times has gained a fair bit of traction in Australia since establishing a sales arm in the country a few years ago.

While it looks like an excavator, it is capable of doing more than just excavating and digging. It has a top working speed of 10km/h which is unheard of as far as excavators go.

Another key feature is the 360 degree rotating cab which allows it to spin in which ever direction it needs to scoop or unload material, hence taking over the job of a skid steer loader.

Phil Shepley of Mecalac Australia was kind enough to give us a go in the 6MCR. Watch the video to find out what we think of the multi-tasking rig.
