TTi unveils new water truck range

Poly water trucks designed and built in Victoria

The days of steel water carts are gone, as more contractors are switching to poly tanks for their water carting needs due to durability and flexibility reasons.

Local liquid transport tank company, Trans Tank International (TTi) has been designing, developing, and manufacturing water trucks in Australia for over 15 years.

Its latest line of poly water trucks is available in sizes from 8000 litres through to 15,000 litres. The range’s flagship model - the ‘Storm’ – is a 6x4 bogie axle truck designed for civil and earthmoving contractors and large-scale civil projects.

The ‘Cascade’ model, on the other end of the spectrum, is a compact water truck ideal for landscape and council work, general dust suppression and smaller civil projects.

“Our new Poly Water Trucks are a premium unit and we’ve left no stone unturned in the development of them,” says TTi Marketing Manager, Jens Buchner.

“We are calling it ‘The New Era in Water Trucks’ because we’re finding more companies are choosing poly over steel now.”

The signature TTi poly tank is rotomolded at its factory in Nathalia, Victoria, using the highest-grade polyethylene powder. TTi says poly tanks are 20 per cent lighter than steel, meaning more water can be transported and they also offer greater flexibility to handle chassis twisting and movement.

TTi backs its products with a 20-year factory warranty. Inside the tank is TTi’s LiquidLocker baffle system, which eliminates liquid surge while traveling.

The user-friendly hydraulic system is available in different configurations, including an innovative dial-up system, which has been developed from scratch by TTi and a specialist hydraulic firm. It features preventative PTO overspeed & hydraulic pump programming to provide maximum performance even at low engine revs.

The design allows it to use just a 20-litre hydraulic oil tank, whereas normal systems require a 200-litre tank, TTi says.

Functions such as starting and stopping the motor and activating spray heads or dribble bar are controlled via an ergonomic in-cab controller.

“We wanted to make it really easy for anyone to jump into the cab and operate the controls,” Buchner says.

The business end of the truck consists of a manifold, a 1600l/min cast iron pump, three rear spray heads, hose reel, pressurised and gravity dribble bar, hydrant, suction & overhead filling capabilities, LED work lights & underbody hose storage.

In 2020, TTi established a manufacturing facility in the suburb of Sunshine North in Melbourne, Victoria, to produce the new range of water trucks. TTi picked the facility due to its proximity to truck dealerships in the area.

“The Melbourne facility also allows for backup support when required to our large client base in the Melbourne area. TTi prides itself on backup service and friendly, helpful support when you need it, both pre and post-purchase,” Buchner says.

In addition to their fully-built water trucks, TTi also offers ‘Water Truck Modules’ – a fully built remote supply module.

“The benefit of the module is that we can freight them anywhere in Australia and you can essentially turn your existing truck into a full-featured water truck,” Buchner says.
