Tutt Bryant Equipment, which distributes a range of renowned construction brands in Australia including Yanmar, Gehl, Sany, Kato and more; has announced its expansion into the generator space following an agreement with UK generator supplier, AJ Power, to distribute its products Down Under.
It covers smaller units offering 10kVA of power, right up to bespoke containerised generators, catering to big mining or quarry sites with high-power-generation requirements.
According to Tutt Bryant Equipment National Power Generation Manager, Chris Leahy, it was a natural progression for the company to move into the power generation space considering its strong background in engines.
“Also, most of our existing customers need generators with their equipment but just weren’t buying them as part of their Tutt Bryant fleet,” he said.
“So this is a really great opportunity for us to be able to capture a larger portion of the market.”

Leahy said the company decided to sign an exclusive agreement with AJ Power due to its reputation and expertise in the generator market.
“Like other generator companies, AJ Power sources its parts from multiple suppliers including engines from Mitsubishi, Scania and Perkins and alternators from Mecc Alte," he said.
"But unlike its competitors, AJ Power engineers and tests its own generator packages in state of the art facilities.
“It's the old adage of ‘one throat to choke’ in that they've got ultimate accountability for the entire build, so when we have any questions about the products, AJ Power’s engineering team will be able to answer them.”
The range of products on offer means Tutt Bryant can cater to any industry requiring off-grid power, Leahy said.
“We are seeing a lot of enquiries from the mining and quarrying industries as well as in agriculture, particularly dairy farming in Victoria,” he said.
Other industries that AJ Power are able to cater to include hospitals, construction sites, commercial buildings and more, Leahy said.
“Another application is in data centres, which typically require plenty of power,” he said.
While AJ Power’s off-the-shelf generator sets are able to cater to most applications, Tutt Bryant is ready to work with customers to deliver more customised solutions where needed, Leahy said.
“We’ll conduct front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies with the client to establish project specifications, power needs, location, site electrical integration, ongoing maintenance and from there figure out a solution that works for them.”

AJ Power’s generator products are available now from Tutt Bryant’s 23 dealerships nationwide. Tutt Bryant said it is also committed to offering comprehensive aftersales service for its generator range including maintenance, servicing repairs and fast infield support from trained and qualified personnel.
The company is planning a national roadshow in mid-May and a series of short online webinars to help existing and potential customers assess their generator needs and explain how Tutt Bryant can help them.
