VB new fragrance for tradies and “hardworking Aussies”

Beer manufacturer dips its toes into perfume market

Yes, you read that right and no, this is not a drill. The Victoria Bitter that Aussies know and love has launched a new fragrance named ‘Thirst’, designed to help get hard working Australians from the worksite to the pub at knock off time.

The fragrance, launched just in time for Father’s Day, is now available at Chemist Warehouse stores nationwide and retails for $24.99.

Contrary to popular belief, the ‘Eau de Hard Work’ (we can’t claim credit for that, it was VB’s idea) does not smell like beer. Because what’s the point when your trip to the pub will get you the same result anyway. According to VB brewer, Carlton United Breweries, the fragrance “opens with a refreshing combination of bitter citrus and icy aromas”, before finishing with “the bold freshness and energy of sweet hoppy accents.” So in a way, still beer themed.

Victoria Bitter’s ad for its Thirst fragrance features an appearance by Australian comedian, Harley Breen. In the ad, he was seen cruising down a long deserted road in a classic Ford Mustang in search of “knock off” before stopping to shovel and dig and finally unearthing the perfect “knock off” solution in the VB Thirst.

“Thirst is a scent that every man can get around. It will make you wanna sniff your mate after a full day on the tools,” Breen said. Err...okay.

“We love hard work, but let’s be honest, no one wants to be the person who brings the smell of the worksite to the pub, which is why we created Thirst,” said Victoria Bitter’s Marketing Director, Hayden Turner.

“It enhances that perfect knock off moment – a spray of Thirst, followed by an ice cold VB at the pub with your mates.

“We wanted to honour that moment with a fragrance that every hard-working, VB drinking, Aussie man would be proud to wear.”

BRB, off to do some shopping.
