Heavy equipment specialist Hitachi says its new mini excavator range features bells and whistles that make it appealing to a wide range of operators.
The smallest in the range, the ZX17U-5, is suited for excavation work in tight spaces, as well as a whole range of applications.
"You can be a plumber or electrician or landscaper, and this machine is a tool you can whip out for your jobs," says Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia's Adam Scully.
One of the key upgrades on the Dash 5 range, Hitachi says, is the retractable crawler tracks which goes as narrow as 980mm and as wide as 1280mm, depending on the application and job site access.
The track widths can be easily adjusted via a lever on the side of the machine.
Other improvements on the ZX17U-5 include a security pin access as well as a lockable fuel enclosure to prevent fuel theft.
