Chinese construction equipment manufacturer, XCMG, has debuted two new mine-spec machines at the National Diesel Dirt & Turf show in April – namely a 41-tonne dump truck and a 23-tonne wheel loader designed for heavier-duty applications.
XCMG’s machines are built in China and feature well-known and tested components. For example, the XDA45 dump truck features a Mercedes-Benz engine and Allison transmission for high performance. With a load capacity of 39 tonnes, the dump truck is suited for mining and quarry applications.

“We realise that it’s a large market and there’s a gap in it and big demand (for the dump truck). So we’re quite excited about the fact that we’ve brought this into the marketplace and we’ve already got a lot of interest in it, and we can see a lot of success with this particular model,” said XCMG Australia director, Roy Rossini.
“It’s strong and robust, meets all the requirements of the industry and it’s all to Australian standards as well. So we are going to be very, very competitive with this product.
“We’re also bringing in a 30 tonner and then we’ll go to a 50 tonner. Our 50-tonne model is under development at the moment.”
Another new product on display at XCMG’s stand at the expo is the XC978 wheel loader that has an operating weight of 23.5 tonnes. The loader runs a Cummins engine and a ZF Transmission and comes with a 4.3-cubic-metre bucket.
“This model has been specced for us and is a really high quality, high standard machine to compete with the other major players in the marketplace,” Rossini said.
Moving forward, XCMG has big plans to adopt a go-green policy which involves bringing in alternative-powered equipment such as electric machines.
“We have models that are coming right now which are fully battery powered and lead that innovation space around the world,” Rossini said.
In addition to wheel loaders and dump trucks, XCMG Australia also offers a wide range of construction equipment including excavators, rollers and cranes.
