John Deere unveils electric excavator at CES 2023

First machine produced in partnership with Kreisel

John Deere has announced its venture into construction equipment electrification with the launch of its electric excavator at leading tech event, CES 2023.

The machine is powered by a battery made by Kreisel Electric, in which John Deere holds a majority stake.

Kreisel claims its batteries have a patented immersion cooling architecture that provides unsurpassed lifetime, enhanced safety, and improved performance for battery-powered equipment.

Its charging technology results in faster and lower-cost connections to the electrical grid, the company claims.

John Deere says the new electric excavator is expected to lower daily operating costs, reduce jobsite noise and enhance machine reliability, all while producing zero emissions and the same power and performance operators need in a machine.

Not much else has been revealed about the electric excavator, but it is believed to be a mid-sized model.

Two years ago, John Deere announced its very first electric earthmoving machine concept in the form of the E-Power backhoe.

The CES 2023 was held from January 5 to 8 in Las Vegas, USA.
